Salary Range: 100K -125K DOE
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Human Resources to lead the HR function for our retail organization. This executive role requires a strategic leader with deep expertise in California labor laws, workers’ compensation, talent acquisition, and employee development. The Dir of HR will oversee recruiting, training, and development while ensuring compliance and fostering a culture of engagement and innovation across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic HR Leadership:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with the company’s business objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team, providing insights and recommendations on HR-related matters.
- Lead organizational design, workforce planning, and change management initiatives.
2. California Labor Law Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with California employment laws and regulations, including wage and hour laws, meal and rest breaks, and workplace safety standards.
- Monitor and address legislative changes that may impact the organization’s HR policies and practices.
- Oversee internal audits to maintain compliance with state and federal labor laws.
3. Workers’ Compensation Management:
- Lead the administration of the workers’ compensation program, ensuring timely and effective handling of claims.
- Collaborate with legal counsel and insurance providers to mitigate risks and manage costs.
- Develop and implement safety and injury prevention programs to minimize workplace incidents.
4. Talent Acquisition and Retention:
- Build and oversee a robust talent acquisition strategy to attract and retain top talent in the retail sector.
- Partner with leadership to identify workforce needs and develop pipelines for critical roles.
- Implement innovative recruitment marketing and employer branding strategies.
5. Training and Development:
- Design and execute comprehensive training and development programs to support employee growth and career progression.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning by implementing leadership development and skill-building initiatives.
- Evaluate training programs for effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals.
6. Culture and Employee Engagement:
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts across the organization.
- Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.
- Act as a culture steward, promoting the company’s values and ensuring alignment with business strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR leadership experience in the retail industry.
- In-depth knowledge of California labor laws and regulations, including experience managing workers’ compensation programs.
- Proven track record in talent acquisition, employee development, and culture-building.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and partner with executive leadership.
